What is Prayer?

Hey Everyone!

Last Friday we learned about the power of prayer and how it should be a priority of our lives.  So often we prioritize every fun thing we can think of when we have free time.  The worst being TV and Video games of which I’m very much guilty of doing a lot of the time.

We read awesome verses like our “For Keeps” memory verse:

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find;  Knock and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives;  those who seek find;  and to those who knock, the door will be opened”

Matthew 7:7-8 TNIV

I know it’s easy to forget to pray especially when we’re stressed and impatient.  But God promises to do something when we talk to Him about it.

So at the end of the study we all agreed to make it more of a priority and schedule time with God just as we schedule everything else in our day.  I’m excited to hear how it goes this week as we all strive to make good on our promises to each other and especially to God.

If you’re in the Core group and you’re reading this that you remember to pray often every day about anything and everything!

Take care and see you next blog when I talk about the ins and outs of surfing Half Moon Bay!

1st Entry is most important: popcorn is awesome

The best popcorn popperI’ve always loved popcorn in the theater.  The butter, the salt, the Coke that washes it down.  I’ve come to realize that this stuff is really bad for you because of the butter, but in moderation (like once a month) is ok.  So since I couldn’t go to Union Landing theaters anytime I wanted some popcorn, I decided that microwave popcorn was the best.  That is, until I learned of the chemical that causes “popcorn lung” in factory workers because of th

e chemicals diacetyl and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA).  These chemicals in excess can cause cancer which obviously is not good.

SO, I moved to AIR POPPED POP CORN!!!  This is super healthy and lets you decide how much buttery goodness you put in it.  It doesn’t contain those crazy chemicals and definitely can be eaten without the butter or salt!  Now I can have it everyday and not feel that I’m speeding up my unhealthy destination.  There are a variety of air poppers.  Some can be used in the microwave and some can be stove top poppers.  The one I purchased recently is a Silicone Zone Microwave Popcorn Popper.  This has a silicone top that has a screen so while it’s microwaving the popcorn below, the butter melts and falls on top of it.

So to all my buddies who love popcorn, move to the revolution of taste!  Air Popped PopCorn is the FUTURE!
